Sturdza Palace

In this image we see a rather bizarre building, Sturdza Palace. Completed in 1901 as a sumptuous private residence for a rich and eccentric prince who loved showing off his wealth, the palace was heavily damaged during WWII and demolished after the war. Approximately on the same spot now stands Victoria Palace, the government headquarters, in the midst of busy Bucharest traffic.
